Community Information

Samish Island is a small island located off the northwest coast of Washington State and is surrounded by three bays—Samish Bay, Padilla Bay and Alice Bay. It is connected to the mainland by a system of dikes created in the early 20th century. Samish Island is considered part of the Inner San Juan Islands, along with Guemes, Vendovi, Lummi, Cypress, Sinclair, and Eliza Islands.
 
The island is residential, consisting of about 300 houses, several small businesses, and a community of working people, retirees, young people, small business owners, and small and large landowners. There is no major island center or business district, so most shopping is done at nearby Anacortes, Mount Vernon, Burlington or La Connor.
